Congratulations to the Victor Duran & Joseph Mejia for a great effort in Wednesday's 2^nd round match in the L.A.-C.I.F. City Section Individual Doubles Tournament. Facing the #1 squad from University High School, which entered the tournament with a special "protected" status, the Pilots knew that they had a difficult challenge awaiting them.  Adding to some of the pre-game facts, was that Duran & Mejia are both in only their first year of tennis.  Proudly, these two gentlemen never backed down, showing no sense of being intimidated at all.

In the first set, Duran & Mejia seemed somewhat surprised, yet still managed to pull out one game, and force several others to deuce.  Building an early lead in the 2^nd set, the Pilots seemed poised for the upset, yet it was not meant to be.  Although they only finished with a total of 3 games in the match, these Pilots played with pride & had a great showing, that was certainly not reflected by the final score.

Great job Pilots on a tremendous season!
