Coach Castillo was born & raised in San Francisco, CA. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High
School, where he was a 3-year letterman/starter on the boys varsity tennis team. He was also the team's MVP his senior
year.
He attended Cal (UC Berkeley) where he received his Bachelor's in Ethnic Studies & began teaching Magnet
World History at Banning in 1996.
Coach Castillo took over as coach of the Boys Tennis Team in Spring 2004, and
the Girls Tennis Team in Fall 2004. Coach Furuya is originally
from the southern California, and played tennis at Cal-State Fullerton, before finishing her English degree at CSU Dominguez
Hills. She joined the coaching staff of the Girls Tennis Team in the Fall of 2006, and also teaches English at Banning
as well. She also bakes brownies for the Boys Tennis Team, as well as consistently supporting the team. She took
on the role of Assistant Athletic Director in the Spring of 2013.
