Re-Cap of Boys Marine League Tennis Match - Banning vs. San Pedro 3/25/09
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for a great 5-2 victory over San Pedro on Wednesday. In the
grudge match for 2nd place in the early standings, the Pilots were triumphant & showed that they were truly
battle-tested, after a long & tough pre-season schedule.
In singles action, #1 Singles Ricardo Zaragoza
fought back from a 1-4 deficit in the 2nd set to close it out in straight sets. #2 Singles Hernan Suarez
dominated from beginning to end, while #3 Singles Justin Garcia had an incredible comeback after losing the 1st
set 0-6, & trailing 2-4 in the 3rd set.
In Doubles, both the #1 & #2 match-ups were
very tight. Ignacio Torres & Marcus Macias trailed 4-2 in the 1st set, but went on to win 10 of the last
12 games to take it in straight sets. Victor Duran & Joe Mejia also trailed late in the 2nd set, but
closed it out with an impressive run to also close it out in straight sets.
In JV action, Eloy Ruiz
& Kwang Lee played a great match, winning 8-4, while Alex Chun & Kevin Reyes fell just short in the tie-breaker.
