Re-Cap of 3/5/09 Boys Tennis Match vs. Manual Arts
Congratulations
to the Boys Tennis Team for their bounce-back win over Manual Arts on Thursday. Not only did the Pilots shutout their
opponents 7-0, but they outscored the Toilers 85 games to only 14.
In singles play, Ricardo Zaragoza,
Ignacio Torres & Daniel Gomez all produced 6-0, 6-0 "dozen-donuts" shutouts. Miguel Pila was also impressive
in his outing vs. Manual Arts' #1 singles player, in a 3-set victory.
In doubles, Justin Garcia
& Austin Macias also joined in on the dozen donuts party with a 6-0, 6-0 win of their own, while Hernan Suarez & Carmelo
Jaramillo, as welll as Victor Duran & Joseph Mejia gave up just one game each in their match-wins.
In
exhibition play, the JV squad had the opportunity to test themselves against varsity competition, with all doubles squads
brining home another 4 victories on the day. Alex Chun & Kwang Lee, Hector Briseno & Eloy Ruiz, Eric Mendez &
Kevin Reyes all won easily in their 1-set wins, while Steve Chavez & Robert Guerrero won in straight sets.
