Congratulations to the Girls Tennis Team for a tremendous 4-3 victory over San Pedro on Friday!
Despite being shorthanded, the Pilots got back on track & ended their 3-match losing streak in dramatic fashion.
In singles, Elaine Gomez once again led the way with a dominating 8-1 win, while Evelyn Lagunas played perhaps her best singles
match of the year with a very respectable showing. In doubles, Juana Gomez & Lizeth Manzano cruised to an easy 8-2
win, while Jazmine Andrade & Laia Freeman struggled to put away their pesky opponents, after an easy 8-1 in the day's
prequel. "Anchoring Down," however, when it mattered most, Andrade & Freeman pulled out the victory to set up
a somewhat anti-climactic ending. With the overall team score tied at 3-all, Dahlia Castillo & Jazmin Cuevas stepped
on court as the deciding match, but did it in less-than-dramatic fashion as they shutout their opponents 6-0 to propel the
Pilots to victory. In JV/Exhibition action, the Pilots won both completed matches including a 6-3 win by Francheska
Kosonoy & Stacey Negrete over a mixed-level Pirates squad. Great job Pilots & good luck vs. Palos Verdes on Monday!
