Re-Cap of 10/29/08 Girls Tennis Match: Banning vs. Narbonne
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis
Team who finished out the regular season with a bang, defeating Narbonne 5-2 on Wednesday. With the win, the Pilots accomplished
their 2nd 4-game win streak of the season & won sole possession of 2nd place in the Marine League
with a final 8-2 league record.
In doubles, Veronica Trujillo & Jasmin Jimenez. trailed 4-3 early, before winning 5 of
the next 7 games & closed out their match against a stacked doubles lineup featuring the Gauchos’ best player.
In Singles, the Pilots
swept all 4 matches, outscoring Narbonne 32 games to 11. Cristina Alvarado & Norma Santamaria grinded out a couple of
tough ones, while the Pilots received a pair of dominant 8-1 wins from Kathy Ngo & Diana Alvarado, with Alvarado clinching
the 4th & decisive match.
In JV/Exhibition action, Jazmine Martinez & Dalilia Cornejo took home the only win for
the Pilots there, with a 6-2 score, while Cristine Nafarette made her season debut a good one as she teamed up with Wendy
Arreola in a close 6-4 loss.
