Re-Cap of 10/23/08 Girls Tennis Match: Banning vs. San Pedro
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis
Team for completing the season sweep over San Pedro with a 7-0 victory on Monday. The Pilots did not lose a single match vs.
the Pirates in 14 tries & in this latest round, outscored them 56 games to only 16.
In doubles, Veronica Trujillo &
Jasmin Jimenez, Sandra Medina & Victoria Martinez, as well as Patty Ledesma & Anais Noriega all won easily.
In Singles, the Pilots
were much more dominant posting three 8-0 shutouts by Cristina Alvarado, Diana Alvarado & Kathy Ngo. Norma
Santamaria, provided the drama for the day by completing an amazing comeback. After trailing 6-3, Santamaria won 5 of the
next 6 games, including a tie-breaker, to ensure the Pilots’ unblemished record vs. the Pirates.
In Exhibition action
Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez posted their 2nd 6-0 shutout vs. San Pedro while Areli Chun teamed up with
her varsity teammate Sandra Medina to take on the Pirates’ #1 varsity doubles duo, also shutting them out 6-0.
Jazmine Martinez & Dalilia Cornejo, Jessica Cortez & Lizbeth Medina, as well as Wendy Arreola
& Helly Duran all won as well, with Arreola & Duran doing it against two varsity opponents.
