After a dramatic morning at school, which saw the entire campus on lock-down until past
11:30, the Pilots boarding their bus 45 minutes late, no pre-game meal, much less water or Gatorade, things looked bad for
the Pilots. Adding to that was an already daunting task of being the #11 seed and trying to pull off a huge upset over
a valley team, Van Nuys, who was the #6 seed in the Division I bracket of the team playoffs. Needless to say, things did not
go well. However, in a few bright spots for the team, both Jorge Zavala & Jonathan Guray managed to capture one
match apiece in singles, while Michael Gonzalez & JoseAngel Sotelo did the same in doubles. Congratulations to the team
for a great effort, and the end to a great season, which saw the Pilots finish 2nd in the league and amassed 14 wins versus
only 4 losses. The season goes on, individually, for those Pilots who have been selected to participate in the Marine
League Singles & Doubles Championships this Saturday. Good luck to Jorge Zavala & Jonathan Guray in singles,
and both pairs, Michael Gonzalez & JoseAngel Sotelo, as well as Fernando Corona & Esteban Zavala in doubles.
