Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for completing the season sweep over Carson, following
Tuesday's 6-1 win. In singles, the Pilots dominated and left no doubt, taking all 4 matches in straight-sets, led by
Jonathan Guray who trailed 2-3 in the 1st set before reeling off 10 games in a row to close it out. Doubles was a very
different story, as all 3 matches went the distance, all doing so in dramatic fashion. Michael Gonzalez & JoseAngel Sotelo
seemingly faced a million match points in a 2nd set that saw one of the most fortunate net-cords in recent memory as they
mounted a furious comeback to force a very back-and-forth 3rd set that they eventually lost. Meanwhile, Fernando Corona
& Esteban Zavala seemed to be in complete control of ther match before trailing 4-3 in the 3rd-set tie-break, but took
the last 4 points in a row in a gripping win. The story of the day, however, was #3 doubles, Gerardo Lopez & Eli
Villareal. Lopez & Villareal trailed 3-6, 1-5 and were on the brink of elimination, before they fired off 6 games in a
row to force an improbable 3rd set which would see them ride their momentum all the way to victory. In JV/Exhibition action,
Leo Alvarado & Omar Renteria avenged Monday's 7-8 tie-break defeat, winning easily. Hugo De La Cruz & Gerardo Reyes
produced yet another 8-0 shutout, while Jonathan Bustamante & Josias Rabanales fell short of doing the same, but still
claimed the win. Great Job Pilots & Good Luck in the regular season finale vs. Gardena on Thursday!
