Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for a great 7-0 win over Carson on Monday. Over
the past 30+ years, this is the first time that the Pilots sweep all 7 matches vs. the Colts. In singles, the Pilots
took 2 matches easily, including a 6-0, 6-0 double-bagel shutout by Jorge Zavala, while Daniel Gudino fell just short of doing
the same. The other 2 matches provided much more drama. Both Jonathan Guray & Travis Nash dropped their 1st
sets before mounting furious comebacks to win in 3. In doubles, Gerardo Lopez & Eli Villareal dominated, while Michael
Gonzalez & JoseAngel Sotelo battled in a very close back-and-forth 1st set, finally triumphing in the tie-break &
closing it out in straight sets. Meanwhile, Fernando Corona & Esteban Zavala joined the day's them of 3-set wins
after also dropping the 1st set, yet also pulled it out in the end. In JV/Exhibition play, the highlight of the day was Jonathan
Bustamante & Josias Rabanales defeating their varsity opponents 8-5. Great Job Pilots & good luck as the team now
faces the daunting task of trying to repeat Monday's performance against the same squad on back-to-back days.
In addition to the match, the Pilots also celebrated the team's 3 seniors
for their years of service & dedication to the team. It was a great Senior Day, as not only did all 3 seniors win
their individual matches in the last match at Banning, but they also were part of the historic 7-0 win over Carson.
