Re-Cap of 10/20/08 Girls Tennis Match: Banning vs. Gardena
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis
Team for another dominant 7-0 victory over Gardena on Monday.
In Singles, Norma Santamaria, Diana Alvarado & Kathy
Ngo rolled over their opponents with 8-2, 8-3 & 8-1 wins respectively. However, in the most closely
contested match of the day, Cristina Alvarado built a 6-2 lead before having to fend off a determined Panther who fought hard
& came within 1 point of forcing a tie-break. Alvarado capped off the day with an 8-6 victory after doing a bit of fighting
herself & climbing back from a luv-40 deficit to close out the very last match on court.
In doubles, all 3 duos performed
exceptionally well again as Veronica Trujillo & Jasmin Jimenez dominated 8-2, while Sandra Medina & Victoria Martinez,
as well as Patty Ledesma & Anais Noriega produced identical 8-3 victories.
In Exhibition action, Dalilia Cornejo & Jazmine
Martinez as well as Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez each shutout their opponents 6-0. Luisa Martin
& Jamie Vasquez, as well as Wendy Arreola & Helly Duran all defeated varsity opponents, while Areli Chun
partnered up with varsity starter Norma Santamaria to handle Gardena’s #3 varsity duo 7-5.
