Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for a great 7-0 victory over Long Beach Cabrillo,
in a match that included a late start time due to Cabrillo's transportation issues, as well as 3 hard-fought, 3-set matches.
In Doubles, the Pilots swept all 3 matches, including a 3-set win for Fernando Corona & Omar Renteria. In
Singles, the Pilots took 2 of the 4 matches with relative ease, while 2 others went the distance. At the #3 singles
position, Jonathan Guray faced an early 0-4 deficit before seemingly figuring out his opponent, winning 16 of the next 21
games to take the match in 3. At the #1 spot, Jorge Zavala seemed to be cruising as he took the first set, before his
opponent began to turn things around winning the 2nd. In a very back-and-forth 3rd set, the score was 4-4 late, before
Zavala took the last 2 in a row, including winning a sudden-death deuce point to close it out. In JV/Exhibition play,
the Pilots took 5 of the 6 matches played including a pair of 8-0 shutouts by Josias Rabanales & Eli Villareal, as well
as Travis Nash & Esteban Zavala. Great Job Pilots & Good Luck at Bell on Wednesday!
