Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis Team, once again, for sending 2 pairs to the 2015
CIF LA City Section Doubles Championships. The team's second pair, Elaine Gomez & Stephanie Salazar, made the most
of their opportunity after making the main draw as the 1st alternate, by winning 6 games in a very competitive loss to Birmingham's
top pair, of the West Valley League. Meanwhile, Alondra Gudino & Leslie Leon showed their mettle by defeating Chatsworth's
top pair in straight sets, after trailing 2-5 late in the 2nd set, finally prevailing in the tie-break over yet another West
Valley League squad (coached by former Pilot, Mark Bautista '92), to advance to the Round of 16. In that Round of 16
matchup, the Pilots took on the overall #2 seed in the tournament from Palisades, who are fresh off winning the CIF LA City
Section Division 1 Team Championship, and produced a great effort vs. their heavily favored opponents as they came up short
of the quarterfinals. Great Job Pilots once again, on a tremendous season as it now finally concludes!
