Congratulations to the Girls Tennis Team for a great non-league victory over Manual Arts
on Wednesday. Despite being short-handed, with the team's top player out of action, the Pilots still knew how important this
non-league match was to keeping the team's post-season hopes alive. After defeating the first of 3 Coliseum League opponents,
rather handily (Crenshaw 5-2), the Pilots were ready for competition. As expected the Pilots swept all 3 doubles matches,
outscoring the Toilers 24 games to only 1. Unexpectedly, however, the Pilots dropped 3 of the 4 singles matches, needing
Stephanie Salazar to pull our her match which was also unexpectedly close, finally prevailing 8-6. Another bright spot,
however, was Emily Gomez who made her Varsity debut, as she jumped out to a 4-1 lead before faltering in a close match in
the end. In JV/Exhibition play, the Pilots took all 3 matches played with Dahlia Castillo & Jazmin Cuevas, as well as
Jocelyn Correa & Laia Freeman winning, while Joselynn Baca teamed up with her Big Sister to take on a pair of Varsity
starters from Manual Arts, taking the match in a scoring-adjusted match 5-2. Great Job Pilots & Good Luck vs. the
final Coliseum League foe, Rancho Dominguez, in the thrice-rescheduled match on Friday!
