| Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for a tremendous 4-3 victory against Gardena on Tuesday.
In doubles, the Pilots struggled early, yet Michael Gonzalez & JoseAngel Sotelo overcame the rough start to win in 3 sets,
helping to set up the late-match dramatics.  In singles, Julian Frausto overcame 2014's #2 seed in the Marine League
Singles Championship, winning in straight sets, while Freshman, Brayan Camacho, continued his winning ways by also overcoming
a slow start to win in 3.  Finally, with the overall team score tied at 3-all, Jorge Zavala's dramatic victory sealed
the deal.  After trailing early in the match, Zavala took a commanding lead as he looked to close out the 1st set rather
easily, before his opponent mounted a mini-comeback to force a 1st set tie-break.  In that tie-break, Zavala once again
took what appeared to be a commanding lead before his opponent tied it up at 5-all.  Zavala took the next 2 points to
create some breathing room, as by this time he came to realize that the fate of the team rested squarely on his shoulders.
In another back-and-forth set, Zavala battled his Senior opponent, finally prevailing in another extended set to deliver the
victory for the Pilots.  After losing 8 starters to graduation, while the Panthers only lost 2, the win was a big test,
and showdown between the top 2 teams in the Marine League, and bolstered the Pilots' hopes of a repeat league title.
In JV/Exhibition action, Isidro Aguilar teamed up with his Big Brother, to continue the trend of dramatic wins, as the two
overcame a 1-set deficit to win in 3.  Great job Pilots & good luck versus Narbonne on Friday, in the team's 1st
                                    road match of the season.
