Re-Cap of 10/2/08 Girls Tennis Match: Banning vs. Gardena
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis
Team for their dominant 7-0 victory over Gardena on Thursday. Not only did the Pilots win all 7 matches, but they also outscored
the Panthers 56 games to 13.
In Singles, there was dominant effort all the way around, but especially by Cristina Alvarado who shut
out Gardena’s #1 Singles player 8-0. Norma Santamaria & Diana Alvarado just missed out on the
shutout, posting 8-1 & 8-2 victories respectively, while Kathy Ngo got her season back on track with a solid 8-1
win.
In
doubles, Veronica Trujillo & Jasmin Jimenez easily handled their opponents 8-2 & established themselves as a top duo
in the league, while Patty Ledesma & Anais Noriega also barely missed out on a shutout at 8-1. The drama on the day, however
was provided by Sandra Medina & Victoria Martinez who faced a 2-5 deficit before winning 6 of the last 7 games to complete
the incredible comeback & kept the Pilots perfect on the day.
In Exhibition action Dalilia Cornejo & Jazmine Martinez defeated
their Varsity opponents 6-1, while Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez defeated a mixed-level Panther squad by
the same score.
