Re-Cap of 9/25/08 Match: Banning vs. Sylmar
Congratulations to the Girls Tennis Team for a great effort
against one of the city’s toughest team’s in defending Valley Mission champ, Sylmar. Despite playing a much stronger
opponent, the Pilots played some great tennis & even won 2 matches.
In Singles, Jasmin Jimenez won her singles debut
in a dominant 8-4 effort. While Cristina Alvarado & Norma Santamaria played some close matches versus two of the city’s
top performers.
In doubles, Diana Alvarado & Sandra Medina fought back from a 4-2 deficit, & clinched the match
by winning 6 of the last 7 games. Meanwhile Veronica Trujillo & Vicky Martinez also fought back from a 4-1 deficit, getting
as close as 6-5 before falling just short of the victory.
In JV/Exhibition, Wendy Arreola & Lizbeth Medina defeated a mixed-level (1 JV & 1
V) Spartan squad 6-4.
Good job Pilots & good luck next week as Marine League play opens versus a tough
Carson opponent. J
