Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for another great showing in the CIF Doubles Championships, in
the Round of 16. Chris Leon & Cristian Talavera had the daunting task of taking on the overall #2 seed from Palisades,
fresh off of winning the CIF Team Championship. Leon & Talavera played well, and managed to take 4 games & challenged
in many more games that went to deuce-point. Meanwhile, Isai Chun & JoeAnthony Rodriguez knew they were in the opposite
situation, as the favorite, and the seeded team. Early on, they cruised in taking the 1st set, before a dumbfounding
2nd set which saw them lose 1-6 in what was seemingly only a matter of minutes. After an extended break taken by both
teams, however, Chun & Rodriguez regrouped, and came out on fire in the 3rd set, taking the 1st 3 games in a row, before
closing it out 6-3. With the win, Chun & Rodriguez now stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best of the best, among
the last 8 standing, out of close to 250 doubles pairs in the entire CIF Section. Great job Pilots, and Good Luck to
Chun & Rodriguez in the quarterfinals vs. the overall #1 seed from Granada Hills on Monday.
