2014 Home Finale - Senior Day

The day started out with the team honoring its 10 seniors for their 35 combined years of service to the team, including 19 seasons as starters.

Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for completing the season sweep over Carson after Monday's 5-2 win. This season's sweep tops 2013's & now stands as the best performance the team has had vs. the Colts in quite some time. In singles, Walter Camacho provided the toughest challenge for the Marine League's ace all season, while Manuel Leon also played well. Julian Frausto cruised to a straight-sets victory, while Joshua Guray fought back from an 0-4 deficit in the 2nd set to also win in 2. In doubles, the Pilots once again swept all 3 matches, outscoring the Colts 36 games to only 7, including a double-bagel shutout by Kevin Lam & Juan Mijares. In JV/ Exhibition action, the Pilots won 3 rare singles matches, including Omar Renteria's first shutout of the season. Lance Mendoza & Luis Prado dominated their varsity opponents, while Michael Gonzalez & Salvador Lara pulled out a tough win in the tie-break during a very tight match, also versus varsity opponents.

The win puts the Pilots league record at 8-1 and sets up a showdown vs. Gardena in the team's season finale on Wednesday, after the Panthers topped Narbonne to also remain as the only other 1-loss team in the league. The winner of Wednesday's match will be crowned as Marine League Champs. Great job Pilots & good luck vs. Gardena!
