In light of the Washington forfeit, it was decided that something of value needed to occur, in order to maintain the competitive edge of the team.  What resulted was an intra-squad scrimmage which evenly divided the team of players active for Monday’s match, into two teams of 9.  Had there not been a clear winner, (winning 4 or more of the 6 matches), the total number of games won would have been the deciding factor.  On the line: 1) PILOT PRIDE; 2) Coach Furuya’s Famous Brownies would be feasted upon by the winning team.

Congratulations to the Black Team, who won 2 out of 3 matches in both singles and doubles.  In singles, Walter Camacho upset the #1-ranked player on the team, Manuel Leon, while Joshua Guray pulled out the 3-set victory. In doubles, Jhovanny Arredondo & Salvador Lara cruised, while Chris Leon & Juan Mijares avoided the upset, and the possibility of having to count the total # of games won for both teams, by pulling out the 3-set win and clinching it for the Black Team.

For the Red Team, Julian Frausto mounted a comeback after dropping the 1^st set., while Lance Mendoza & Luis Prado won rather easily as well.

Great job Pilots on a great day of competition & good luck on Thursday’s non-League match vs. Leuzinger!
