Re-Cap of 10/27/12 Marine League Championships
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis Team who sent 6 of the team's 10 regular starters to the Marine
League Championships this past Saturday. In singles Natalie Martinez played an awesome match, barely missing out on
a spot in the semi-finals after an incredibly close match that needed a tie-break to decide the matter. Jocelyn Cuevas
also played well against one of the league's top up-and-coming underclassman. In doubles, Marivi Angel & Brenda
Torres also played well, while Liesel Montañez & Renae Reyes produced the most incredible headline of the day.
Trailing 2-7 in the match, & facing several match points, Montañez & Reyes steamrolled their opponents by winning
6 games in a row to complete the improbable and amazing comeback which vaulted them into the semi-finals, where they seemingly
had little left in the tank after considering the toll of the comeback, yet still played well.
