Contreras
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis Team for a dominating victory over
Contreras in the Season opener on Wednesday. Not only did the Pilots win all 7 Varsity matches, but they outscored the
Cobras 56 games to only 10.
In singles, Sabrina Serrano, Liesel Montañez & Renae Reyes
all produced 8-0 shutouts, while Natalie Martinez almost did the same in her Varsity debut, winning 8-1.
In
doubles, Marivi Angel, in her first career match, teamed up with Jocelyn Cuevas for an 8-0 victory of their own, while Vianca
Sebastian & Natalia Vasquez, both making their career debuts, won easily. Meanwhile, Brenda Torres made her career
debut and teamed up with 2nd-year player Jackie Rodriguez, who was making her Varsity debut, in the most competitive
match of the day. After jumping out to an early lead, Torres & Rodriguez held off a comeback attempt and closed it out
in a tight tie-break to keep the Pilots perfect on the day.
In JV/Exhibition action, 6 girls made
their career debuts as Elizabeth Cano & Andrea Cardenas joined their varsity teammates with a shutout, while Caroline
Ortiz & Alondra Gudino also won easily.
