Re-Cap of Boys Tennis Semi-Finals Playoff Match -
Banning vs. Franklin
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for a tremendous effort
in the team's first ever Semi-Finals appearance vs. Franklin on Monday. Despite failing to advance to the championship
game, the day was full of many notable performances and marked a historic achievement in the school's tennis history. Additionally,
in what was now officially the last match ever at Banning for the team's 5 seniors, proudly, all 5 won at least one match
on the day.
In singles, the Pilots once again managed to win 4 matches, led by Daniel Gomez who
won 2, followed by Juan Gomez & Miguel Pila who won 1 match apiece. Fighting off the effects of a full morning of
AP testing & illness, Ryo Miralles performed admirably, as well.
In Doubles, Alex Chun &
Isai Chun pulled off a win in the tie-break vs. the Panther's #3 squad, while Manuel Leon & JoeAnthony Rodriguez recovered
from 2 tough losses to finish out the day with a win over Franklin's #2 pair. Finally, Oscar Renteria & Jonathan
Soria took care of business, winning both their even match vs. Franklin's #2, as well as finishing the day with a 2nd
win, this time over the Panthers' #3 tandem.
Congratulation, once again, Pilots, for an incredible
season & Good Luck to those who wind up joining Daniel Gomez & Miguel Pila in the C.I.F. L.A. City Section Doubles
Championships at the Balboa Tennis Center in Encino, CA next week!
