Re-Cap of 4/28/08 Playoff Match vs. Bell
Congratulations
to the Boys Tennis Team who advanced to the quarterfinals of the playoffs with yesterday's 16 ½ - 13 win over Bell.
Despite the fact that Bell dominated the singles 13 - 3, & even won more overall matches on the day, the Pilots' sweep
of all 9 doubles matches gave the victory to Banning.
In singles, special recognition goes out to Oliver Arreaga,
Ricardo Zaragoza & Andres Suarez, (who was fighting severe stomach problems), who all won their matches vs. Bell's
#3 singles.
In Doubles, the Pilots, a.k.a "The Janitors", swept their doubles matches, outscoring the
Eagles 13 ½ points to 0. Jacob Loy & John Ngo clinched the match for the Pilots while Rozairo Miralles &
Jonathan Melgar dominated their matches & even had a 6-0 shutout. The storyline of the day, however, was #3 doubles
Ignacio Torres & Gabriel Hernandez. After taking care of business vs. Bell's #3 & surprising the Eagles'
#2, these two Pilots stepped on the court for their last match of the day, ready to shock the world. With their confidence
ever-increasing & their incredible play, Torres & Hernandez absolutely demoralized Bell's #1 doubles, as they
played perhaps the best tennis of their careers.
Awesome job Pilots & good luck in the quarterfinals on Wednesday!
