San Pedro
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for completing the season sweep over Marine League
Rival, San Pedro.
In Singles, Daniel Gomez, Miguel Pila & Ryo Miralles all continued their impressive play by
all winning in straight sets, with Miralles producing a 6-0 shutout in the 1st set.
In Doubles, the Pilots
were able to turnaround some of the team's recent trends of the season, as Manuel Leon & Oscar Renteria showed their toughness
by squeaking out both incredibly close sets in tie-breaks, while Manuel Leon & JoeAnthony Rodriguez overcame a 1-set deficit
to win the match in 3 sets, producing a 6-0 shutout set in the process. Finally, in another noteworthy performance,
Alex Chun & Isai Chun showed incredible resilience as they fought back from a 1-4 deficit in the 2nd set, winning
5 of the next 6 games, yet eventually fell in the tie-break.
In JV/Exhibition action, Kevin Lam & Juan Mijares
finally lost a match, yet managed to take 3 games from a varsity doubles squad that included both the Pirates #1 player and
the team captain.
Great Job Pilots & Good Luck vs. Washington & Gardena, as the team plays in its 1st
ever double-header, as they face off vs. both the Generals & the Panthers on Monday!
