3/7/12 Boys Tennis Match - Banning vs. Bell
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis
Team for the 2nd consecutive win to open the season, after a 5-2 victory over Bell High School on Wednesday.
In Singles, both Daniel Gomez & Juan Gomez played
incredibly tight matches, & battled to the very end, yet fell just short. Miguel Pila dominated his opponent into submission,
outscoring him 10 games to 2, before his opponent retired due to an ankle injury. Meanwhile Ryo Miralles provided the
clinching match for the team win, after an impressive 6-2, 6-1 win
In Doubles, not only did the Pilots sweep all three matches, and winning all 6 sets played in straight sets, but
they outscored the Eagles 36 games to only 5. Led by Manuel Leon & JoeAnthony Rodriguez, who produced a complete
6-0, 6-0 shutout at the #1 doubles spot, Oscar Renteria & Jonny Soria also easily won. Alex Chun & Isai Chun-Reyes
dropped the 1st game of their match, yet reeled off 11 games in a row, before finally closing it out.
In JV/Exhibition action, both pairs of completed matches won versus Varsity
opponents. Kevin Lam & Juan Mijares trailed their opponents 1-4, yet won 5 games in a row to take their match, while
Josh Guray & Walter Camacho crushed their opponents 6-1.
Great Job Pilots & Good Luck today versus Westchester in the last Non-League match of the season!
