Girls Tennis Doubleheader – Banning vs. Carson
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis Team for an incredible effort in yesterday’s double
header vs. Carson. This is perhaps the 1st doubleheader played in the school’s tennis
history & was definitely one to remember.
Going into this season, the Carson Colts Girls Tennis team was a combined 140-0 in league play over the last 14 years.
In all 28 previous attempts, not only did the Pilots lose every contest, but managed to only win a combined 7 individual
matches. In Monday’s doubleheader alone, the Pilots captured FIVE of the matches & equaled the
team’s previous best effort of a 3-4 result in the 1st contest of the doubleheader.
In doubles, Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez swept the Colts
8-3 & 8-2 to cement their place as the top doubles tandem in the league. Luisa Martin & Angel Noriega
did the same, winning 8-6 & 8-4 in two dominant efforts as well.
In singles, Jocelyn Cuevas inspired the team with an incredible 8-6 win in the 1st match,
while falling just short of doing the same in the 2nd, with an 8-7 loss in a tie-break in the 2nd.
