Girls Tennis Match – Banning vs. Narbonne
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis Team for a great effort vs. Narbonne on Monday. Despite
falling short of the win, the Pilots played their hearts out & managed to win 36 games, as all 7 matches were closely
contested.
In Singles, Melissa
Garibay played well early, building a seemingly insurmountable lead at 5-2 before her opponent mounted a tremendous comeback.
Meanwhile, Rebeca Rodriguez battled her opponent in a very back-and-forth match before finally falling. Both Luisa
Martin & Angel Noriega mounted impressive comeback attempts, as Martin trailed 1-6, yet won 4 of the last 6 games to tighten
things up, while Noriega split the last 8 games after trailing 4-1.
In Doubles, Lizbeth Medina & Jamie Vasquez also dominated early & led 7-4, but faltered against
yet another Gauchos’ comeback, while Jocelyn Cuevas & Sabrina Serrano, as well as Jackie Cabrera & Sandra Hernandez
fought valiantly before also succumbing in the end.
In JV/Exhibition action, Liesel Montañez & Renae Reyes continued their winning ways, bringing home a 6-4
win for Banning.
