Re-Cap of 9/28/11 Girls Tennis Match - Banning vs. San Pedro

Congratulations to the Lady Pilots Tennis Team for a dominant victory over Marine League Rival, San Pedro.  Not only did the Pilots claim the victory over the Pirates, they also swept all 7 matches.

In Doubles action, the Pilots outscored their opponents by a combined 24 games to only 5, led by Lizbeth Medina & Jamie Vasquez who barely missed out on the 8-0 shutout, winning 8-1.  Luisa Martin & Angel Noriega followed suit winning 8-2, while Jackie Cabrera & Sandra Hernandez won 8-3.

In Singles, Sabrina Serrano won a grudge match at 8-5, while Jocelyn Cuevas cruised to an 8-2 victory.  The drama on the day, however, involved the top two singles matches.  Melissa Garibay trailed the entire match, yet took control after being down 5-6.  After her opponent's last-ditch effort forced a tie-break, Garibay kicked it up a notch, closing out the tie-break easily 7-2.  As the last Varsity match on court, Rebeca Rodriguez also was involved in a very back-and-forth affair, yet also took control after being down 5-6, winning the last 3 games in a row to preserve the team shutout.

In JV/Exhibition action, Brenda Angeles easily won a rare singles match, while Andrea Cardenas & Natalie Martinez gained some valuable experience vs. two of San Pedro's varsity players.  Meanwhile, Liesel Montañez & Renae Reyes gained the 6-0 shutout over the Pirates.
