Re-Cap of 4/15/08 Match: Banning vs. Carson
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for a great performance
vs. Carson on Tuesday. Despite losing all the singles matches, the Pilots came back with a vengeance, sweeping
all 3 doubles matches, to stay in contention for the Marine League title.
Leading the way in doubles, were Rozairo Miralles
& John Ngo (#3 Doubles), winning their match in straight sets, as did #2 Doubles, Andres Suarez & Jon Melgar.
Completing the doubles sweep were #1 Doubles partners Jacob Loy & Fernando Moncloa. After giving
up a tightly contested 1st set, these two doubles veterans performed as just that, taking the next two sets, after
coming back from Luv-40 and 15-40 deficits in two huge games in the third set.
In singles, this time around, Oliver Arreaga
took on the toughest assignment of the day, yet earned cheers from spectators on both sides for his hustle and tough play
vs. the defending city champ.
In exhibition play, Ignacio Torres handled his opponent 8-2 in singles. #1 Doubles Gabriel
Hernandez & Justin Garcia defeated the mixed-Colt/Pilot squad, vs. their own teammate Diego Mayorga, while Jesus Valladolid
& Richard Cortez once again played extremely well vs. two Varsity starters in a very close 5-5 tie.
Congratulations
once again, Pilots, for a great performance & good luck on Thursday vs. Gardena. J
