Boys Tennis Match – Banning vs. Washington
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team for a tremendous victory in the team’s season finale,
Wednesday vs. Washington. Not only did the team clinch the win, but did so in dominant fashion, with 5
of the 7 matches decided in straight sets, and 6 shutout sets overall.
In singles, Miguel Pila & Angel Amador led the way producing identical 6-0, 6-0 “dozen donuts”
shutouts. Daniel Gomez barely missed out on the same, but still produced a dominant win as well, in giving
up only 1 game. Alex Chun struggled to get on track, and after splitting two very close sets, easily closed
out his opponent with a shutout in the 3rd set.
In doubles, Ryo Miralles & Juan Gomez gelled well in their 1st action together, cruising
to the win. Meanwhile, Oscar Renteria made his varsity debut & teamed up with Abraham Moreno securing
a comfortable victory as well. Cousins, Eric Mendez & Manuel Leon had their hands full with the Generals’
most athletic opponents in a very back-and-forth affair, before finally prevailing 7-5 in the third set.
In JV/Exhibition action, Isai Chun & Juan
Mijares defeated the #3 varsity doubles tandem, while JoeAnthony Rodriguez & Jonathan Arredondo played well versus the
#2 & #3 varsity singles players. Robert Guerrero & Enrique Esparza squared up with the top two
varsity players from Washington’s Girls’ squad and battled them to a tie.
