Pilots vs. Banning (Intra-Squad Scrimmage - Below)

Re-Cap of 3/9/11 Scheduled Boys Tennis Match – Banning vs. Franklin

Congratulations to the boys tennis team for adding another “W” to the win column, after being credited with a 7-0 win, by way of forfeit, over Franklin.  The win, in this manner, was especially disappointing as, for the 2nd year in a row, Franklin simply failed to show, this time around citing a miscommunication about the site of the match.  The missed opportunity was also frustrating, as the Pilots were looking to measure themselves against a top team who had beaten the Pilots 7-0 the last time the two teams actually played in 2008.

Either way, Congratus Again to the Team, and Good Luck vs. Carson on Friday!

Re-Cap of 3/9/11 Boys Tennis Match – Banning vs. the Pilots (Intra-Squad Scrimmage)

Congratulations to the Pilots tennis team for a great victory in Wednesday’s win over Banning.  After Franklin once again failed to show up for Wednesday’s scheduled match, the team decided to use the occasion as an intra-squad scrimmage.

In singles, Robert Guerrero led the way for the Pilots with an upset victory over Eric Mendez in straight sets.  Angel Amador & Hector Briseño battled for 3 sets with Amador closing out the 3rd for the Pilots as well.

In doubles, Isai Chun & Manuel Leon provided the only victory for Banning, with a 3-set victory of their own, winning the 3rd in a tie-break. However, Miguel Pila & Daniel Gomez clinched the match for the Pilots with a straight-set win over Juan Gomez & Alex Chun. Yet the performance of the day was Juan Mijares’ straight set victory over both Oscar Renteria & Ruben Rico in an impressive 1-vs.-2 match.

Congratulations Pilots & Good Luck to the Whole Team on Friday vs. Carson!
