Re-Cap of 11/19/10 City-Wide Seeding Meeting – Individual Singles & Doubles Playoffs

Another round of congratulations is due to Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez, as the L.A. C.I.F. City Section Individual Singles & Doubles Championships draw was released, revealing that Garibay & Rodriguez were actually seeded among the top 8 teams in the city.  As a result, Garibay & Rodriguez receive a 1^st-round bye in the tournament, & automatically advance to the round of 16, out of close to 500 doubles players in the City Section.

RESUMÉ

In addition to the fact that they both participated in last year’s individual doubles playoffs, this season, as a doubles tandem, Garibay & Rodriguez played together 11 times, and had 10 wins and only 1 loss, all at the #1 doubles position.  The one loss they did have was a close loss vs. Carson (6-8), early in the season, which they avenged the 2nd time they faced Carson, winning by the same score (8-6).  Most importantly, Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez provided perhaps the 1^st tennis championship (male or female) for the Pilots at any level since 1976, by winning the end-of-season Marine League Doubles Championship versus another doubles tandem from Carson.
