Re-Cap of 11/1/10 City-Wide Seeding Meeting
The last time the Lady Pilots posted a losing record was in 2004 (3-10).
Since that time the Pilots haven’t looked back, as they’ve continually made progress & headway into the ultimate
goal of a Marine League Championship, as well as a City Championship
Finishing
the 2010 season as the 6th consecutive season with a .500 win % or better, the 5th consecutive year
with a winning % of .500 or better in Marine League play, in a season in which all 11 different varsity starters had an individual
winning record, and after Melissa Gariby & Rebeca Rodriguez provided perhaps the 1st tennis championship (male
or female) for the Pilots at any level since 1976, the Lady Pilots are now headed to the playoffs for the 5th year
in a row! The Pilots were selected as the #11 seed in the L.A. C.I.F. City Section Invitational Playoffs
where they’ll take on the #6 seed Wilson, on Thur. 11/4 @ Wilson HS. The game starts at 1pm.
With budget cuts & major changes to the selection process for the
L.A. C.I.F. City Section Individual Singles & Doubles Championships, the Pilots are still awaiting the news as to whether
or not Marine League Doubles Champions, Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez, as well as 3rd place finishers,
Patty Ledesma & Luisa Martin, will be invited to represent the Marine League at this elite tournament being held at Balboa
Tennis Center in Encino, CA next month.
Congratulations Lady Pilots
on this incredible news & accomplishment & Good Luck vs. the Wilson Mules on Thursday!
