Girls Tennis Match – Banning vs. Washington
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots who finished the season on a 2-match win-streak, defeating Washington
on Senior Day in the team’s regular season finale. Not only did the Pilots complete their 3rd
season sweep of the season, but all 6 seniors were able to end the regular season with a win, in helping to lead the team
to an 8-4 record overall.
In
singles, Angel Noriega won easily 8-3 & improved upon her previous score against the same opponent, while 2nd-year
senior, Carmi Lares, faced a new opponent in a re-vamped Washington line-up, yet still dominated 8-2. Rebeca
Rodriguez & Melissa Garibay played well vs. two gritty opponents, while Garibay struggled with leg-cramping in a courageous
effort.
In Doubles, 3rd-year
senior, Helly Duran, returned from injury & teamed up with 2nd-year senior, Jenny Castellon, for the easy win.
Jamie Vasquez & Lizbeth Medina as well as 4th-year senior, Patty Ledesma & Luisa Martin, dominated their
matches in identical 8-0 shutouts, capping off a tremendous career for Ledesma.
In JV/Exhibition, 1st-year senior, Ruth Caballero, teamed up with
3rd-year senior, Areli Chun to play at #1 JV, as they took on a mixed-level squad & easily defeated them 6-4,
to also end their careers with a win.
Great Job, once again to the Pilots, as the team now awaits league & city-wide seeding meeting news!
