Re-Cap of 10/21/10 Girls Tennis Match – Banning vs. Narbonne

Congratulations to the Lady Pilots for another great effort vs. Narbonne.  Armed with a new lineup, the Pilots arrived at Narbonne with revenge on their minds, hoping to upend the Gauchos. However, despite several great efforts, it was not to be.

In Singles, Lizbeth Medina managed to score 4 games in her match, while Jamie Vasquez took 3. Patty Ledesma & Luisa Martin also played well in their matches, taking 1 game apiece.

In Doubles, Jessica Ramos made her 2^nd straight start on the varsity lineup, replacing regular Helly Duran, away on an out-of-town field trip.  Ramos teamed up with Jenny Castellon, who suffered a painful leg injury on the very first point of the game, as they trailed 0-3 early on.  They then mounted a comeback and tied the match at 6-all. After dropping the next game, Ramos & Castellon fought valiantly in the 14^th game, including multiple deuce-points, in an attempt to force a tie-break.  Once again, however, as in the overall team score, it was not to be.

At the #1 Doubles spot, Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez dominated their match 8-3, solidifying their place as perhaps the best doubles team in the league.  Meanwhile, Angel Noriega & Carmi Lares opened up a huge 4-1 lead before allowing it to disappear at 4-all.  However, refusing to allow their opponents to continue to take the momentum, Noriega & Lares turned it around & won 4 of the last 6 games to close out the match for the Pilots.
