Re-Cap of 1st Round of the Individual Doubles
Playoffs - Mon.5/17/10 Congratulations to the Pilots for making history, as for the
1st time, maybe ever, the Banning Boys Tennis Team advanced THREE doubles teams into the 2nd round of the L.A. C.I.F. City
Section Individual Doubles Tournament.
The Pilots' top pair, Hernan Suarez & Justin Garcia, surprisingly
received a walk-over, as the #15 seed from Van Nuys simply didn't show. The Pilots were hoping to avenge the defeat
of two of our Lady Pilots, who went down to Van Nuys in the Round of 16, this past fall.
Next up, were Kwang
Lee & Ryo Miralles, who dominated their opponents from beginning to end, in a straight-set romping.
Finally,
Marcus Macias & Joseph Mejia, the very last match on court, also won in straight sets, dominating the 1st set, before
having to put out the flames on an attempted comeback from their Verdugo Hills opponents who pulled within 4-all in the 2nd
set.
