Re-cap of Boys Tennis Match - Banning vs. Narbonne 4/15/10
Congratulations
to the Pilots Tennis team for their effort vs. Narbonne on Thursday. Despite the overall scores, there were some standout
performances for the Pilots.
In singles, Daniel Gomez & Alex Chun had some great points & even managed to
take 3 games combined versus some very talented Gauchos.
In doubles, after a shocking 0-6 loss in the 1st
set, Hernan Suarez & Justin Garcia fought back in the 2nd & were literally 1 point away from forcing the
tie-break in a very close & intense set. Marcus Macias & Joseph Mejia faced a 0-5 deficit in the 1ast set before
reeling off 4 games in a row in an astounding comeback attempt. Although that comeback fell short, these Pilots would
go on to use that momentum to even things up, by winning the 2ndset, forcing a decisive 3rd. Things
remained intense as Macias & Mejia fought back from several Luv-40 games to keep things close before finally faltering
late in the match.
In JV/Exhibition action, the Pilots once again dominated the Gauchos, winning all 3 completed
matches. Kevin Reyes & Juan Gomez led throughout, while Eric Mendez & Angel Amador had an incredible comeback win,
after facing a 1-4 deficit. Additionally, Robert Guerrero & Steve Chavez produced another 6-0 shutout.
