Re-cap of 3/20/10 Banning Boys Tennis @ First Serve Tournament
Congratulations to the Pilots for a great performance during the annual 1st Serve Tournament
at West Torrance HS. In a tournament that boasts 32 of southern California's top teams over two weekends at two sites,
the Pilots tested themselves & struggled for respect. Despite the team's overall record on the day, players gained some
very valuable experience, as the team completed its non-League schedule.
The Pilots won 45 games on the day overall, with several outstanding performances that are sure
to help the Pilots when Marine League play opens in two days, on March 22nd. The highlights of the day came
at the very end vs. El Segundo. In the final contest of the day, Hernan Suarez forced a tie-break in a highly competitive
match, while Kwang Lee & Miguel Pila dominated their opponents. Justin Garcia & Joe Mejia, however, shocked
their opponents after facing a 0-5 deficit, and then reeling in 7 games in a row, to complete the incredible comeback victory.
