Re-cap of 3/1/10 Boys Tennis Match - Banning @ Westchester
Congratulations
to the Pilots for a great effort in their season opener vs. Westchester on Monday. Improving upon last year's results
against the same opponent, this time around the Pilots were much more competitive, winning 2 matches & coming close in
another two.
In Singles action, Hernan Suarez
led the way, in his debut at the #1 position. In a very back-and-forth match, Suarez controlled most of the action despite
coming up just short.
In doubles Daniel Gomez
& Miguel Pila pulled out a dominant straight-set romping of their opponents, while Alex Chun & Kwang Lee fought
back from a 1-set deficit, to win a dramatic 3-setter. Joe Mejia & Justin Garcia fell just short of doing the same
in their own 3-setter which was decided on a deuce match-point.
In JV/Exhibition action, the Pilots won 3 of the 4 matches there with victories coming from Eric Mendez & Kevin
Reyes, Angel Amador & Robert Guerrero, as well as Steve Chavez & Juan Gomez. Guerrero's play was especially
impressive, as he & Chavez teamed up with newcomers Amador & Gomez who were both playing in their very first matches
ever.

opener vs. Franklin.
