Congratulations to the Pilots for a 6-1 victory in a great performance
vs. Contreras in the season opener. Not only did the Pilots win this first meeting ever vs. the Cobras, but also outscored
their opponents 53 games to 26 while 7 of the Pilots’ 10 starters made their varsity debuts.
In Singles, Kathy Ngo produced a dominant 8-0 shutout in her first match as the team’s #1 overall player. Luisa
Martin & Wendy Arreola also played well in their wins, while Dalilia Cornejo, in her first varsity singles action managed
to win 5 games at #2 singles.
In Doubles, the Pilots swept their matches in
dominant fashion with Sandra Medina & Patty Ledesma as well as Jamie Vasquez & Lizbeth Medina leading the way in identical
8-1 wins. Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez took a different path but managed to pull out their match
nonetheless in a tie-break.
In JV/Exhibition action, Helly Duran & Angel
Noriega won 8-1, while Areli Chun & Brenda Angeles also won 6-3.
