Re-cap of 10/1/09 Girls Tennis Match - Banning vs. San Pedro

Congratulations to the Pilots for a great 5-2 win over San Pedro on Thursday.  The Pilots once again swept the doubles, and under the continued leadership of Coach Furuya, filling in for Coach Castillo, extended their 5-match winning streak over the Pirates

In Singles, Luisa Martin produced a fantastic 8-0 shutout, while Wendy Arreola battled for a tie-break win.  Dalilia Cornejo played perhaps the best tennis of her career so far, in a close 6-8 loss, while Kathy Ngo also battled with the Marine League's top player, building an early lead and hanging tough late in the match.

Once again sweeping the Doubles for the Pilots, Sandra Medina & Patty Ledesma, Melissa Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez, as well as Jamie Vasquez & Lizbeth Medina, outscored their opponents 24 games to 5 overall, showcasing one of the Pilots' real strengths.

In JV/Exhibition action, Angel Noriega & Brenda Angeles teamed up to win a tie-break match of their own, while Carmi Lares, in her career debut, teamed up with her Varsity teammate Luisa Martin, for a 6-0 shutout win.
