Re-Cap of 3/7/08 Match vs. Franklin
Congratulations to the Boys
Tennis Team for another great effort during yesterday's match vs. Franklin. Although the final score
doesn’t quite reflect it, there was a vast improvement in the team’s play as they won a total of 38 games, an
improvement of 24 games.
In Singles, Rozairo Miralles played
some exceptional tennis & continually extended his match & frustrated his opponent, while Will Guzman took an early
3-0 lead before stumbling in the end.
In Doubles,
Hernan Suarez made his career debut a good one as he teamed up with Ignacio Torres at #3 Doubles in a very close match.
The most exciting match of the day, however came as Jon Melgar & Oliver Arreaga took a total of 11 games vs. their
opponents, as they even had a chance to force a 3rd set, after building a 5-1 2nd-set lead.
The see-saw affair drew crowds of on-lookers as a must-see match with so many twists & turns.
In Exhibition play, Gabriel Hernandez & Ricardo Zaragoza notched the first of 2 Pilot
wins on the day in an impressive 8-6 victory.
Great Job Pilots & good luck as the team opens league play vs. Washington next Thursday! J
