Re-cap of 11/5 Playoff Match vs. L.A.C.E.S.
Congratulations
to the Girls Tennis Team for an amazing playoff victory over LACES on Monday. Not only did the Lady Pilots
win 6 of the 7 matches, but they also outscored the Unicorns 72 games to only 23. Adding to the historical
magnitude of Banning hosting it’s first playoff match in the past 15-20 years, this also marked
the first playoff victory for the Pilots in the past 15-20 years.
Leading the way for the Pilots were #1 Doubles partners Nancy Melgoza & Cinthya Monroy who posted
the straight-set shutout at 6-0, 6-0. Also posting shutout sets were #3 Singles Cristina Alvarado &
#3 Doubles Melissa Hernandez & Jasmin Jimenez who each had a shutout set apiece. #2 Doubles Veronica Trujillo & Adriana
Garcia fell just short of the same, but still only allowed 2 games to their opponents, while #4 Singles Kathy Ngo allowed
only 3. #2 Singles Norma Santamaria posted the clinching match for the Pilots after trailing early, defeating
a tough opponent.
Special recognition
also goes out to #1 Singles player, Diana Alvarado, who really hung tough against one of the absolutely best players in the
entire city.
Exhibition
In Exhibition action, Graziel Nafarrete &
Jazmine Martinez, Sandra Medina & Victoria Martinez, as well as Patty Ledesma & Jasmin Jimenez added to the day’s
dominant effort by all posting identical 6-0 shut-outs.
The Pilots now advance to the quarterfinals of the playoffs where they will face-off
versus #2 seed Bell on Wednesday at Bell. Awesome Job Pilots! Keep Up the Hard Work & Good Luck in
the quarterfinals! J
