PILOTS CONTINUE PLAYOFF RUN!
Congratulations to #1 Doubles Jacob Loy & Fernando Moncloa who
upset their Van Nuys opponents during Thursday’s Individual Doubles Playoffs. Trailing 4-1 in the
first set, these two Pilots fought back to get back in the match, leading to a first-set tie break. In
that tie-break, they also trailed 3-0, before taking 7 of the next 8 points to claim that 1st set.
After a big letdown in the 2nd set, Loy & Moncloa regrouped and finished out the match with an unbelievable
shot by Moncloa that sealed it for the Pilots. Loy & Moncloa now advance to the Sweet 16, something
that has only occurred once before in Banning’s last 10-15 years.
In other news, despite
failing to advance to the next round, #3 Doubles Jonathan Melgar & Oliver Arreaga played very well against an extremely
talented and experienced Sylmar team. Down 5-0 in the 2nd set, they refused to be shut out &
claimed that 6th game & finished out with a strong 7th game as well.

Granada Hills in the next round.
