Re-cap of 4/18 Match vs. Narbonne
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team
for another great effort in yet another extremely tight match Wednesday versus Narbonne. After the first
6 matches were completed, the Pilots found themselves tied 3-3 with one match remaining on court: #3 Doubles Jonathan Melgar
& Gabriel Hernandez. After splitting the first 2 sets, the contest was finally determined by a gut-wrenching
3rd set, in which Melgar & Hernandez fought back from a 3-1 deficit & forced 2 extra games to be played,
before falling 7-5 in a very see-saw match.
Although
the team fell just short of the overall victory, special recognition goes out to #4 singles Fernando Moncloa who fought back
from a 3-0 second-set deficit, & reeled off 6 straight games to take his match in straight sets. Meanwhile
#2 doubles Rosendo Tolento & Oliver Arreaga also played some awesome tennis, taking their match in straight sets. #3
doubles Jacob Loy finally put away his pesky opponent, by shutting him out 6-0 in the third & deciding set.
Junior Varsity
In JV action, the team’s 45-game unbeaten
streak was finally snapped. However, the JV squad played well & looks to get back on track on Friday
vs. Carson, ready to start a new streak.
Way to go Pilots! Incredible show of heart & character! J
