Congratulations
to the Boys Tennis Team for their 3rd 7-0 shut out of the year. After suffering two straight
4-3 losses, this was just what the Pilots needed to end the first half of league play, at 3-2.
Special recognition
goes out to #2 singles Juan Tafolla, #2 doubles Andres Suarez & Jonathan Melgar, as well as #3 doubles Fernando Ledesma
& Octavio Ramirez who all pitched 6-0, 6-0 shut-outs. #1 & #4 singles Luis Moreno & Oliver
Arreaga both came up just 1 game short of the same, with 6-0, 6-1 wins.
The day was closed out with a grudge match
at #3 singles, as Rosendo “Junior” Tolento, fought off nerves and a determined opponent to take his match in 3
sets, assuring the Pilots remain in playoff contention, as the 2nd half of the season promises to produce a lot
of close matches to determine the top 2 spots in the Marine League.

In JV action,
#1 JVs Gabriel Hernandez & Ignacio Torres won again & added yet another match to the team’s ongoing 43-game
unbeaten streak. In exhibition play, #2 JVs Gerry Mendoza & Hernan Suarez won their match, as Justin
Garcia teamed up with Oliver Arreaga vs. the Panthers in a mixed-level match-up & also won.
