The Sun Was Shining Brightly

by William Mogensen Sr.
The sun was shining brightly
and I could hardly wait
to ponder at my estate

The breeze was blowing briskly
it made my flowers sway
my garden was enchanting
on this Spring day

My eyes fell on a little blackbird
with a beautiful black bill
I beckoned him to come and light
upon my widow sill

I smiled at him so cheerfully
and gave him crusts of bread
then I quickly closed the window
and smashed his f#%@ing head
